The reason for the season.

The cutesy little commercials and signs and even storefronts (guess where I won't be shopping) that say, "Remember, Jesus is the reason for the season" irritate me to no end.
Don't you remember anything from grade school science? The tilt of the earth's axis is the reason for the season.
Christians don't get to monopolize an entire season. They don't even get to claim the entire month of December. There's Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, Bodhi Day, and in Islam there's either Eid ul-Fitr or Al-Hijra depending on their calendar.
Jesus is not the reason for the season. He's the reason for your holiday of Christmas, for which you stole the practices and traditions of Pagans. Get over yourselves.

I love the buttons you have. I've spent so much time on Ravelry that when I read the opinion pages in the newspaper online, I look for the buttons to click.

One of the reasons I left fundamentalism behind was because of the assumption that "we" are the only ones who are right and "we" get to dominate schools, goverment and holidays.

Oh, I know. It's so addicting! Wow, rereading that post makes me realize how angry I sound. But, well, I was mad at the time. And I do say these are my rantings and ravings.

You didn't sound angry to me, but then I'm pretty bitter about fundamentalism and the damage it did to my son and me.

I'm still a Christian but I've had to redefine just exactly what that is because I can no longer stomach mentally associating with people who are fear-mongers and haters.

Oh, wait...now that did sound angry.

You, whoever you are, have a serious problem. I'd say I feel sorry for you, but I have no patience nor pity for people like yourself. Sooner or later you'll wake up. God help you in the meantime.
